Sustainability is a constant and present goal at Nael Swimwear. We share with you our small achievements and the path that we are traveling together with you, being increasingly sustainable:
We use fabrics is made with REPREVE® recycled polyester, including recycled plastic bottles (REPREVE® Unifi Inc), in a part of our collection. In addition, we use leftover fabrics from our suppliers, giving them a second life through the circular economy.
Why do we use leftover fabrics and circular economy instead of using recycled fabrics throughout the collection?
Basically for the minimum order quantity. The order for recycled fabrics is really high and it would imply an over-stock of products, and we would enter a meaningless production loop. Being a small brand, we are producing little by little and we make sure not to produce without demand. You help us in this, interacting with Nael in social media and with PREORDER category.
You can see the certificates of how we work the circular economy with our suppliers here.
All our fabrics have the OEKO-TEX 100 certificates, which certify them free of toxins and substances that are harmful to our health and the environment. You can check our supplier’s certificates here.
Our recycled polyester is certified by the Global Recycled Standard, which guarantees recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. In addition, all accessories and trimming from our swimwear are also recycled and have the GRS certificate. You can see the certificates here.
All our packaging is made of recycled paper and free of plastics. All the paper we use has the FSC seal, which means that it comes from sustainably managed forests according to ecological, social and economic aspects.
All our packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable. You can see the certificates of our suppliers here.
We have launched in Spain our RECYCLE WITH NAEL project, where we collect all your bikinis and swimsuits that you no longer use to recycle them correctly and turn them into recycled fabrics for the future.
Only available in Spain.
We support and participate in We Sustainability, a local environmental commitment platform in A Coruña, with which we regularly clean beaches and make you aware of the importance of keeping our coasts clean for the planet.
Discover our production process in our Instagram and our blog (only available in Spanish for now): how we do each step, who we work with and why our factories are socially responsible and sustainable.
All our factories have ISO 14001, Amfori BSCI and Intertek seals that guarantee environmental commitment, quality in the supply chain and compliance with the labor standards of the International Labor Organization.
We are a Spanish company that pays its taxes and generates jobs in Spain. In addition, we are present in one more foreign country, where we also pay taxes and generate indirect jobs.
You can see our Spanish certificate of fiscal footprint here.
We are not perfect … as we always say, sustainability is a path that we are traveling and logistics is one of the most difficult points. When one of our clients buys a Nael bikini or swimsuit, she usually wants to receive it as soon as possible, with the contamination that comes with the use of means of transport such as the plane (in international packages).
So we have partnered with DHL and we are part of GoGreen, their carbon footprint offset program with each of our shipments.
In addition, we offset our business carbon footprint with Bosques Sostenibles, a Spanish organization with which we plant trees annually in the Iruelas Valley Natural Reserve (Ávila). In this area, in 2019, a fire devastated the area, affecting the ecosystem. With our contribution of 15 trees on behalf of Nael Swimwear, we help to recover this wooded area of the Sierra de Gredos.
Remember that no matter how small our contribution as a company or individual is, it adds up.
That’s why at Nael Swimwear we support the UN’s sustainable development goals, and we feel especially committed to the following, which are part of our sustainability and transparency:
We are also committed with Spotlight Initiative, a global partnership between the European Union and the United Nations to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. We are currently in the process of getting the certificate as a collaborating company.
